Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History will offer complimentary admission
to all grandparents on Sunday, Sept. 8, in honor of National Grandparents Day.
Celebrated every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day, Grandparents Day was
established by President Jimmy Carter in 1978.
8 also will be the final day to enjoy the exhibits Beautiful Beasts: The
Unseen Life of Oklahoma Spiders and Insects, featuring larger-than-life
photographs of Oklahoma’s smallest creatures, and Bob Kuhn: Drawing on
Instinct, displaying beautiful sketches and paintings of some of the
world’s most magnificent animals.
museum’s Discovery Room will feature activities, stories and objects all about
chickens during Grandparents Day. Bring your family and listen to Chickens
Aren’t the Only Ones, then create your own “chick magnet” together!
on Grandparents Day, the museum will offer grandparents family memberships at a
discounted cost of $35 from $45. Membership to the museum provides
complimentary admission for two adults and children in the family under the age
of 18. Additionally, grandparents receive Tracks, the museum newsletter,
and discounts in Excavations, the museum store, and on education programs and
