Getting ready to work on your Gold Award? Learn how to use SCRUM to manage projects.
Scrum is an agile way of managing projects that has grown out of the Information Technology industry, it is now being used in many other areas like marketing and new business development. The skills the girls will develop in the class will be applicable as they work on projects together, especially for those working towards their Gold Award.
Scrum focuses on coping with change, collaborating with teams that take responsibility for how they work and what they deliver, working towards an end goal in short cycles that each result in creating some small part of the deliverable. The process follows a PLAN, DO, CHECK, ADAPT approach.
Girl Scout Seniors and Ambassadors will soon be entering a job market where these skills will be required for far more than technology. This training will give them a leg up in as they move towards their careers are going to be expected to be able to work this way once they enter the workforce.
Girls will have the opportunity to take the optional Scrum Master Certification Exam at the end of the training. http://www.scrumalliance.org/pages/who_uses_scrum
